Lockable Resin Parcel Drop Box

Parcels left on a wet step are a gamble twice over, once with the weather and once with whoever walks past. This moulded resin drop box takes deliveries through a hinged top tray that tips the parcel into the body below, where it sits out of the rain under an overhanging lid. The lower door closes onto a hasp that accepts a padlock, so the compartment is shut until you open it. At 43.7 inches tall with a 24.37 by 17.8 inch footprint it holds a stack of boxes rather than a single envelope.

Note: This box keeps parcels out of the rain and out of plain sight, but no outdoor box prevents theft on its own. Anchor it to the porch, the wall or a concrete pad with suitable fixings before you use it, since an unsecured box can be carried away with the contents inside. Supply a weather resistant padlock sized to the hasp and check that the door seats fully before locking. The top tray is not sealed, so treat the inside as sheltered rather than dry, and do not use it for anything that must stay frozen, chilled or bone dry. Keep children from climbing into or onto the box.
